Dear parasitologists, colleagues and friends,
On behalf of the 7th CSBSP Local Organizing Committee and the Scandinavian-Baltic Society for Parasitology, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to Riga and the 7th Conference of Scandinavian-Baltic Society for Parasitology “Parasites in Crossroads” in June 2017.
The Scandinavian-Baltic Society for Parasitology (SBSP) was formed in 2003 when Scandinavian Society for Parasitology (est. 1967) and the Baltic Society for parasitology (est. 1993) fused. The aims of the Society are to encourage parasitology research and education in the Nordic and Baltic regions. The Society hosts a conference every other year to foster knowledge exchange and to provide an important meeting point for parasitologists from across the region and further afield.
Our motto “Parasites in Crossroads” points the importance of Parasitology and Parasites as a multidisciplinary science and research object, which unifies different scientific fields as human medicine, veterinary medicine, molecular biology, epidemiology and evolution.
We wish to present a comprehensive package of the contemporary research trends in parasitology, with special emphasis on the new challenges in parasitology for Northern Europe and potential treats. Other focus areas include e.g. food and waterborne parasites, vector-borne diseases, wildlife parasitology, zoonoses and epidemiology etc. CSBSP is a conference open to all parasites.
And maybe best of all: in Riga you will meet distinguished colleagues from different places, both old and new friends. No better place for networking!
